How can I increase my search traffic without building links?

seo traffic

The dream of every blogger and website owner is to one day appear with his keywords in the  Google Top Ten ranking  .
But most people are about to give up, because they are tired of having to search for links using different techniques. There is no doubt that links continue to be an incredibly important factor in the ranking. This does not mean that you should chase links on every visited website.
This article does not describe the techniques you can use to build links without punishment, such as scaled link building and editorial links.
Instead, you'll come across some powerful techniques that allow you to  research and write articles that bring more organic traffic to your website. Thus, you will be able to generate more customers for you and appear in the Google Top Ten ranking, without even having to think of building backlinks.
Is it possible?
Without question: YES!

The first steps: It's not just about links

First, build a strong foundation or foundation for your website or blog. As a WordPress blogger, you have a big advantage in this case because you can access hundreds of plug-ins and tools  , most of which are free (though some require a one-time payment or a monthly subscription).
You will not get much traffic through many links. Rather, on the other hand, is the quality of yoursimportant. If your content is of low quality then your chances of appearing high in the Google ranking are equally low.
Before you apply the strategies described in this article, however, you should first follow the following two steps.
Rich Snippet Optimization:  You can provide core information or search engine relevant information about your website. This is  very important, especially in today's  Hummingbird era , as Google is increasingly working to understand the contents of web pages.
Rich snippets  are pieces of your website's markup code that appear as text under the heading on SERPs (search results page). They look like this:
Once Google understands the content (or meaning) on your pages, it creates a rich snippet - a detailed text designed to help end users find exactly what they're looking for in their search query. Moz explains this as follows: "Rich snippets give the user a sense of what the web page might contain."
Remember, the ultimate goal is to increase your clickthrough rate. Ranking 1 in the Google Ranking is not enough anymore. You should do everything possible to motivate your target audience (users) to click on your website. Rich snippets will help you.
Google supports rich snippets for the following content:
  • reviews
  • music
  • recipes
  • Products
  • People
  • Companies and organizations
Other sources:
  • Build and use Google Rich Snippets
  • Visual Guide on Rich Snippets
Note:  It's critical to create content that matches users' search queries. Your content should therefore be  relevant to the  intentions of the search query. In most cases, Google will create rich snippets for you based on the content of your website. Thus, Google gets the most out of your website and can satisfy the users better.
Pogosticking (Return-to-SERP):  The most important factor in SEO ranking is satisfaction . If you want to increase your searches without building backlinks, then you should reduce the effect of pogosticking. According to  Foster Web Marketing, "Google Pogosticking hates more than high bounce rates."
Have you ever clicked on Google's search for a specific topic on the first page in the results, just to be completely dissatisfied to find that the result was not your search? You probably clicked the "back arrow" and entered a new search term or clicked on another web page.
This is pogosticking. The user jumps back and forth between the SERPs and the web pages because his needs are not met.
Cyrus Shepard  describes it like this:
In short, pogosticking occurs when a particular web page appears in the Google Top Ten results but does not fit the needs of the searcher.
Google does not like pogosticking. The reason for this is quite obvious:  if users visit your website but do not read the content, then it is clear that the site does not really meet the needs of the users. Thus you will lose your organic ranking and traffic.
Note:  Pogosticking is not the same as a high bounce rate. A high bounce rate usually occurs when your website targets the right audience through a search engine, social media, or other source, but does not stay on the page to view the content.
However, pogosticking occurs when search engine users visit your website from SERPs, but then they do not stay on your site long because your  content, design or context  does not meet their needs.
In other words, pogosticking refers to traffic from search engines, while bounce rate refers to all sources of traffic,  including  search engines.
If you manage to satisfy your users, you will be able to significantly reduce the number of users who visit your website and then quickly return to the SERPs. Why should a visitor click on a different search result from a search engine if your content can offer everything that was searched for?
In this article, you'll learn how to avoid the  pogosticking effect by creating content that invites users to linger. You will not have to worry about building backlinks to get good results on Google.

Strategies to increase the traffic on your website without link building

Now that we understand the impact of rich snippets on your search traffic and ranking, and also know that we need to reduce pogosticking, we can now look at the four best practices for increasing search traffic without link building.
Any of these strategies, if properly applied to your website, can bring you tremendous traffic from search engines by radically improving the quality of your content.

# 1: Write about the latest news

Can you quickly write about the latest news in your niche? If so, use this ability to increase your search traffic and ranking without link building.
In his flagship book, In the Plex , Steven Levy describes  how Google's employees track user satisfaction by analyzing user behavior.
Google analyzes the data with the help of " long clicks " - that is, a user clicks on your website in the search results list and then does not return to the search results.
There is a simple strategy to make sure that users do not do another search or click on another search result: the News Update , also known as Newsjacking. Articles with news can be linked. If you manage to be one of the first websites to spread this message, it's more likely that other websites will point to your content.
Here's an example:
What websites do you find among the top results when you search for Google Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird and Pigeon updates or algorithm changes?
Right, you guessed right:  Moz ,  Search Engine Journal ,  Search Engine Land ,  Search Engine Watch  and  Wordstream.
Granted, these are Authority websites with a  high Domain Authority and Page Authority . But the main reason why these web pages are always at the top of Google results for different searches is because they always have the latest SEO news. They are basically the CNN ,  BBC , Pansuriya pradip and Forbes of SEO.
You get the latest updates from the world of SEO and SEM from other digital marketers and SEOs. They visit and host SEO conferences and workshops, inviting Matt Cutts and other well-known Google employees to share the latest updates.
Your goal should be to keep you up to date with the latest updates and to write about them. Finally, 48% of all search queries result in organic clicks on page one . Thus, you will be among the first websites to offer relevant information on the subject.
Technology blogs are very good at keeping up with the latest events in the world of technology and startups. TechCrunch , for example, has a news section on the homepage. People come here to ask what happened in the last two minutes.
Remember: If you manage to quickly post useful and interesting content for news, other people will link to you.
But how do I find the latest news in my niche?
i). Keep your eyes and ears open:  If you're a digital marketer, blogger or content writer, you should always keep your eyes and ears open. Find fascinating news in your chosen industry that can make a buzz.
But even if your messages can not make a buzz, a well written message can still bring you many benefits by being up to date and providing the latest news to your target audience. Readers take authors who consistently provide solid analysis of breaking news as experts.
There are hundreds of topics that you can cover. For example, here are the latest headlines on Search Engine Land at the time of publication of this article. Each of these topics can provide good content, as long as you research comprehensively.
If you still are not convinced that the news strategy can help you appear higher in the Google SERPs, then take Brian Dean's experience  as an example, which could increase his conversion rate by 785% ,
If you are ready to implement the strategy, then start with the titles. The trick is turning messages into unique and useful content for your target audience. I will show you how to create the best news titles for the topics mentioned above.
Original Headline: Google Launches Rich Medical Content in Knowledge Graph
Vivid and appealing titles that lead people to click:
  • How Google's Rich Medical Content in the Knowledge Graph can improve your rankings
  • What you should know about the rich medical content in the knowledge graph
  • 10 important things to learn from the new Rich Medical Content in the Knowledge Graph
Original Headline: Insights into Bing Ads Auction Now Available All Over
Power-driven tracks that make people click:
  • Good news: You can now use the insights into the Bing Ads auction to generate web traffic
  • How insights into the Bing Ads Auction works for international users
Original Headline: Officially: Google AdWords is launching "upgraded URLs" to track parameters
Attractive titles that lead people to click:
  • Officially: How to track parameters using the Google AdWords Upgraded URLs feature
  • How to use Google AdWords Upgraded URLs to reduce pay-per-click spend and direct qualified traffic
ii). Identify useful ideas for articles:  You can find good ideas for news in blogs, magazines, article comments, and podcasts.
For example, look at the covers of the most important magazines in your niche. Follow these simple steps:
Step # 1:  Go to . Enter your keyword (eg Marketing) and click on the search icon.
Step # 2:  Look at the results. Click on the most appealing magazine cover.
Step # 3:  Check out the magazine covers. Choose useful headlines, play with them to find a captivating headline for your blog post. The trick is not to write a journalistic headline, but a headline that makes you click.
Let's look at some examples:
Original headline: The startup model that works for everyone
Revised Headline:
  • The best startup model for content marketers who want more profit
  • How a simple startup model helped me build a target audience of over 5,600 subscribers in 6 months
iii). Aggregate different sources:  "Aggregate" means "form or group different groups, clusters or a whole". In this case, it means that messages from various trusted sources should be used to create a thoroughly researched, useful, and linkable article.
The first place to find the latest news for your website is Google News.
Step # 1:  Go to  Google News. Enter a good keyword for the subject you're looking for - we'll use "Email Marketing" as an example. Click on Search or press "Enter" on your keyboard.
Step # 2:  Analyze the latest news about your keyword.
As you can see here, Google summarizes news in the News section.
Some of the messages shown in our example were published only a few hours before the search. Others, however, will be released in the next few minutes. So you should always be attentive.
Once you find an interesting breaking news item on your topic (eg startups, email marketing, content marketing), you can analyze the content and collect ideas on how to improve the original.
Or you can easily aggregate - put together a group of linked articles and aggregate them into a message for your website.
So, with our example from above we could award one of the following titles:
  • 13 email marketing experts reveal how to improve email opening rates
  • How 5 New Blog Posts Through Email Marketing Generated 18,977 Visitors in 7 Days
Note:  When you aggregate messages, you should always pay attention to transparency and honesty. The idea is to use results and tips from other users' web pages / blogs to write your own, well-analyzed and stand-alone article.
Furthermore, you should always link to the original message. Never try to present an aggregated article as your own. This is very important. is another good website where you can find the latest news and articles on aggregating.

2. Create successful infographics

Infographics are among the 15 types of content that can be used to generate a lot of traffic . The regular parts of well-designed and interesting infographics can be extremely improve your search traffic. I've been using infographics for a long time, a to get organic and social traffic on my blog.
"On average, each infographic created by me generated over 53,000 qualified visitors and more than 800 backlinks from 79 different domains. Infographics also generate a large amount of social traffic; Each graphic generated around 900 tweets and more than 400 Facebook likes. "
If your infographic is of high quality and useful, users will link to it. In social media marketing, the use of images can make a difference.
In the digital marketing world, individuals and businesses alike have to do with competition.
But the truth is that articles and all forms of text-based content compete much more than image-based content. After all, it's easier to write an article (whether of high quality or not) than to create a graphic.
The sooner you start using visual information as an integral part of your content, the better.
There are more than 10 reasons why visual content should be integrated into your marketing plan. One of the reasons is that "visual content makes up 93% of human communication" . Our brain can process  images 60,000 times faster than text.
Are you ready to use  infographics to generate organic traffic and rankings ? Then take a look at my detailed guide to creating infographics that I wrote a few months ago. Click on this link: 60,000 visitors and more: how to double traffic with the help of infographics.

3. Write detailed Top List Posts

Top list posts are popular. They can improve your search traffic, especially if they are detailed and each statement is backed up by facts.
Adding videos, pictures, and presentations can get 40% of your audience to respond positively to your List Mail .
Michael Dunlop, founder of Pop Domination, was able to generate 9,833 visitors in the past 30 days and 106,338 visitors last year with one of his List Posts .
When writing list posts, it is important to number the individual items in the list and mention the total number in the title - especially  odd  numbers.
i). The Science of Odd Numbers:  The Guardian conducted a survey of 44,000 participants to analyze people's preference for even and odd numbers, especially the number seven. The results showed that the number seven is perceived as smart, happy and even divine. This sheds light on how the human brain works - not only in Western countries. In China, odd numbers are something divine.
"Luck is in odd numbers.
It is said that in odd numbers there is something divine at birth, in the change of life, or in death. "
W. Shakespeare: The Merry Wives of Windsor, Act V, Scene 1
Before you write your Top List Post, you should consider what odd number your target audience could address. According to  Harp Social, "odd numbers outnumber numbers". So use odd numbers in your blog title - and you'll get better results, says  Diane Rayfield.
Do not forget to research existing List Posts on your topic. You can and should write your own cunning post, even if the topic has already been covered in this format. Make sure your post is unique and better than any other posts already written.
ii). More than Keywords:  You can easily improve your SEO by categorizing your keywords and understanding the  goals of your users.
Yes,  keywords  are still relevant in today's SEO. However, as Google now uses the Hummingbird algorithm to more easily measure the relevance and authority of a website, keywords alone are no longer enough.
Remember, as the algorithm improves, Google makes it easier for the user to find exactly what he's looking for.
Goals of keywords or goals of users are one of the four pillars of effective keyword research.
A user's goals are the main reason why a keyword is entered in the search query. According to  Search Engine Land , the seeker either wants to do something, know something or  go somewhere  - or maybe a combination of all three.
When you sell a product or service, keep in mind that keywords with the word "buy" as the prefix or suffix have the  highest purchase intent.
You'll get better results from writing content that's not just keyword-centric, but the goals behind the keywords.
For example, if you're looking for "weight loss programs," Google will use a variety of ranking factors based on user engagement rates to show you the most relevant, detailed, and useful search results.
Here's another example: "Amazon Kindle E-Readers Reviews" and "Kindle Paperwhite Reviews" are two different keywords with a high search volume. A critical look tells you that "Amazon Kindle E-Readers Reviews" is not very specific. The user might want to buy a Kindle DX, Kindle Fire HD or the Paperwhite.
If you want to write content for this keyword, make a top list. For example:
  • Top 3 Amazon Kindle E-reader Reviews
  • The Best Amazon Kindle E-reader Reviews
"Kindle Paperwhite Reviews" is specific and the searcher is more inclined to buy. It can be assumed that the searcher using this keyword has already taken some hurdles in the buying decision process.
In other words, the searcher probably knows the different Amazon Kindle products and has decided to buy the Paperwhite.
With this knowledge, you can create content to motivate the Amazon Kindle buyer.
Your headings could, for example, look like this:
  • Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Review: 5 Noteworthy Features
  • How do I save on Amazon Kindle Paperwhite: reviews and ratings?
  • Where can I buy an Amazon Kindle Paperwhite: reviews and discounts
iii). Use relevant SlideShare presentations:  is the "quiet giant of content marketing" It's one of the most popular and reliable 2.0. Web pages. It combines the strengths of YouTube and PowerPoint, providing up-to-the-minute information for your content.
SlideShare is a strong and growing platform despite the Google algorithm updates. You can give your content a boost in the search engines by integrating relevant presentations.
Use high-quality presentations to your advantage and offer your readers something else. After all, the human brain can process visual information 60,000 times faster than text.
One of my favorite blogs is  Traffic Generation Cafe . Ana Hoffman knows how to use multimedia to increase the value of her blog posts and generate traffic.
She has created nine SlideShare presentations and integrated them into her blog posts . This allowed her to achieve the following impressive results:
  • From 0 to 243,000 views in 30 days
  • Was to find for several profitable keywords on the first Google sides
  • 1,400 clicks on her blog
  • More than 400 new Facebook fans
You can use SlideShare to achieve different goals:
  • Get targeted traffic
  • Improve your search engine ranking
  • Build an email list
  • Improve your brand image
  • Increase your online network
… and much more.
Now imagine how you combine all these benefits into a single content. By integrating a presentation in your content, you can stand out from the crowd. And Google will reward you for your work.
Follow these easy steps to integrate a SlideShare presentation into your content:
Step # 1:  Go to . Enter your keyword to search for relevant presentations.
Step # 2:  Click and look at your chosen presentation.
Step # 3:  Copy the embed code and paste it into your blog post.
iv). Link to Authority Websites:  I can not stress the importance of authority websites often enough. If you  've read my posts on  QuickSprout as well as this blog, you'll know how much I value other users' websites.
Optimum 7 has increased its organic traffic by 214% by conducting a competitive analysis of the backlinks for the top 10-20 keywords as well as revising the structure and elements of the website.
I can link to more than 50 Authority Web pages, send traffic to and, in turn, improve my own organic traffic. Interestingly, linking with Authority Websites can improveyour brand online, directly or indirectly .
Do you remember what the Internet was originally invented for? The goal was to connect web pages so that users can find what they are looking for with the help of search engines. And that's how Google came into being.
An authority website that can be found at the top of Google for almost every keyword in various industries is  Wikipedia . Wikipedia knows exactly how  on-page SEO tactics such as Internal Linking and Authority Linking can improve search trafficwithout the need for additional links.
Linking to internal pages is effective when you start linking to authority websites as well. This distinguishes  Wikipedia from other websites - and that is the reason for the great success.
In sum, if you start linking to Authority websites and other relevant websites, you will naturally get Link Juice. Users will link to your website, tweet content and even share your URL in their email list.

4. Update existing content to create your list

The content upgrade is a simple  content strategy : select an existing content (usually older), update and improve the content, and use it to create your email list. Brian Dean, founder of Backlinko, increased his blog's blog post conversion rate from 0.54% to 4.82% with this approach .
As soon as you start updating your content, Google will notice this as the engagement rate for your content will increase. Are you ready to use the  content upgrade strategy  to increase your search traffic without building backlinks? Then follow these simple steps:
Step # 1:  Use Google to find outdated articles and ideas in your niche that can be improved. Enter a popular keyword on Google and complete a date. For example:
Social Media Marketing 2010
As you can see, Social Media Examiner content is   already outdated. Here we have an article that should be rewritten, structured and updated.
For example, the post and the article deal with the popular social media tools at the time However, the article was written five years ago and since then much has happened in the field.
There are constant changes in social media, SEO and digital marketing these days. If you manage to write a well-researched and useful article with up-to-date information, many more people will sign up to your email list and stay true to you.
Step # 2:  Research current information. After finding an outdated topic or content that needs updating, the next step is to research current information on the topic.
For example, if you're using a low-competition keyword, it's relatively easy to land under the Google Top 10. The SEO of yesteryear and today's SEO are two different pairs of shoes, like two parallel lines that never met.
If you want to update a post on the subject of "keyword research", you should first research current information on the latest update of the algorithm. Around 69% of modern SEO consists of conversion rate and performance metrics.
Example # 1:  Use Google to get the latest information about your topic. Enter your keyword and the current month and year. For example: "Google Panda + December 2014".
In the screenshot above you can see the latest information about Google Panda and other algorithm updates. No matter what your niche is, there is always up-to-date information that you can use.
Example # 2:  Another effective way to find up-to-date information about your topic is Amazon. What have authors on your topic in the last year, 6 months or recently said?
Let's say we want to write a detailed article on marketing automation. You want to use this content for  viral marketing , increase the search traffic on your website and improve the ranking of your website.
Just go to Amazon and enter the topic + 2015 (eg Marketing Automation + 2015). Amazon's search engine will suggest hundreds of Kindle books to choose from.
Take a look in the books. Your goal is to look through the table of contents and the introduction to get some current ideas. This is priceless!
Then you should pull some ideas for your content from the book. This is easy! Take a look at the preview version of the Kindle book. I assure you - the ideas will blow you away!
This is one of the techniques I use to get ideas for writing detailed blog posts that pull a lot of search traffic to my site . And do not be stingy with the length of your content serpIQ has analyzed more than 20,000 top search results and found that websites found in the top 10 have at least 2,000 words of content.
As you know,  blogging is one of the best ways to attract new customers to your online business . Here's a quote from  HubSpot : "Active Business Blogging attracts 6.9 times more Organic Search visitors than any other method.
If you keep posting useful content on your blog, users will share it and spend valuable time on it.
That's commitment. Google tracks how long visitors stay on search queries on your website without leaving the page to click on another search result - also known as  pogosticking , as we learned earlier.
As long as your content strategy is consistent, you'll soon find a lot of  long tail keywords on the first google page - with or without backlinks.
Step # 3:  Formulate Use-Oriented Headings. Your headlines should be attractive and use-oriented when using the Content Upgrade Strategy. Thus, you ensure that users click on your content, read the introduction, stay on the page and register for your e-mail list.
The headline is one of the most important aspects of any content you write. One study shows that 80% of users read the headline, while only 20% read the entire post.
Upworthy , a well-known news and entertainment blog , has found that well-written headlines  generate 16% more traffic.
Here are some tips to write useless headlines:
  • Headings should never be longer than 75 characters, eg. For example:
How to Create an E-Mail List From
Scratch Case Study: 4 Strategies That Have Tripled Traffic on My Blog
10 Simple Ways To Offer Unique Customer Service
  • Use a number in your headline, e.g. B. 7 ways to improve the load time of your website. A headline with a number will give you  36% more clicks than a headline with no number.
  • Highlight the most important keywords. For example: "How do I win back my ex-boyfriend" or "Easy steps to your first WordPress blog" .
  • Understand the keywords' goals before using them in your headline.
Where can I buy Kindle Fire Online?
There is only one reason why users search for this keyword. You want to buy the product in an online store, not a physical store.
Waterproof DSLR Cameras Reviews
The user is looking for reviews for various waterproof DSLR cameras. The user is unlikely to buy the product yet, as no clear choice (eg, a particular camera) has been specified.
  • A descriptive headline is better than a memorable headline. For example, "How do I start an online store with Shopify" is better than "How do I generate thousands of dollars with an online store?".
  • Write in the active form, not in the passive one. For example, "How do I generate organic traffic with content in 30 days" (active) is better than "generating organic traffic with content" (passive).
